Natural Grass Oval to AFL standard for North Melbourne

Aegis Oval, Arden St. North Melbourne, VIC.

Turf One was awarded the contract for the design and reconstruction of the Aegis Oval to the exacting standards of the AFL and North Melbourne Football Club’s requirements for its upgraded training facility, which will match the dimensions of the club’s home ground at the Etihad Stadium.

Irrigated Santa Ana couch will be planted on a 300mm depth of imported sandy loam, overlaying a 100mm depth of drainage aggregate and an extensive sub-surface drainage system.

Turf One has employed its extensive range of GPS laser controlled equipment to place over 8,000 cubic metres of material to millimetre accuracy.

The company has also implemented a rigorous environmental management program for the duration of the works in order to contain significant levels of contamination discovered in the sub-soil.

The project will be completed in time for the planting of the turf in December 2012.

A Combination AFL and Soccer Pitch

Narrabeen Sport High School, Namona St, Narrabeen, NSW.

Turf One was awarded the contract by Pittwater Council to design and construct a combination synthetic AFL and Soccer field in place of the existing natural grass oval at the school.

Installing a synthetic turf playing field on a flood plain presents unique challenges, however Turf One was able to reduce the risk of flood damage by utilising cryogenic rubber to infill the turf. Cryogenic rubber does not float and therefore has a lessened tendency to be displaced by overland water flows.

Turf One employed its experience with water harvesting to construct a system that will collect water and pump it to storage for the irrigation of a natural grass oval at the school.

Installation of FieldTurf Revolution™ synthetic turf enabled Turf One to deliver a field that meets the exacting standards of the AFL, FIFA 1 STAR and the IRB. The project was completed in early December 2012.

New Indoor Training Facility for Essendon Football Club

Airport Drive, Tullamarine, Victoria.

Turf One has been awarded the contract to supply and install 2,500 square metres of synthetic turf at the new indoor training facility that will form part of the extensive training complex currently under construction for the Essendon Football Club at Tullamarine.

Turf One will install FieldTurf Revolution™ synthetic turf to meet the exacting requirements of the AFL.

Hillsview Soccer Pitch

Hillsview Reserve, The Great Eastern Way, South Morang, Victoria.

Turf One consolidated its presence as a leading sports field building contractor with the award by the City of Whittlesea to design and construct a synthetic turf soccer pitch certified to FIFA 1 STAR.

Construction of the pitch over the footprint of the existing natural grass pitch presented challenges as the site had been built up with a significant depth of uncontrolled fill. In response to geotechnical advice the sub-grade was capped with a 250mm thick layer of mudstone. A porous base of coarse and fine aggregates increasing in depth to 300mm at the western side provides an effective drainage medium for the surface.

Installation of FieldTurf Prestige™ XM60 synthetic turf will provide a highly durable surface for Bundoora United FC and other users of the facility every time their players run out onto the pitch. The project is expected to be completed mid May 2012.

New Pitch for Manly United FC

Cromer Park, South Creek Road, Cromer, NSW.

Turf One was awarded the contract by Warringah Council to design and construct an international standard soccer pitch certified to FIFA 1 STAR to replace the existing worn out natural grass pitch.

Cromer Park is home to Manly United FC. The club competes in the NSW Premier League.

The new pitch includes design features that raise the bar for synthetic fields in Australia, including a porous base with water harvesting facility and the latest development in football surfacing.

The FieldTurf Revolution™ synthetic turf is the most technologically advanced football surface available in the world today. Unique fibre shape and extrusion process eliminates fibre breakage; strong UV inhibitors protect the turf from Australia’s harsh sunlight; the specially formulated infill at over 44 kg/m² provides the safest and highest performance playing surface and the patented Surelock™ coating system on the turf backing provides unmatched tuft bind and drainage. The project was completed in June 2012.

Blacktown Soccer gains FIFA certification.

Blacktown Soccer Facility, Eastern Road, Rooty Hill, NSW.

Blacktown City Council’s new international standard synthetic turf soccer pitch has been certified to FIFA 2 STAR.

Council awarded the $700,000 design and construct project to Turf One who completed the work in December 2011. It is the first synthetic soccer pitch built for the Council.

The porous base for the new field consists of deep layers of recycled aggregates. More than 3,000 tonnes of crushed bricks were used in the construction of the base. Compacted and laser levelled to fine tolerances this base provides a flat even playing surface that drains efficiently even during the heaviest downpours.

The playing performance of the FieldTurf synthetic surface has been remarked upon by many players who say it infinitely superior to other synthetic surfaces installed in the Sydney metropolitan area.
FieldTurf is 100% recyclable.

Ballarat Baseball now playing on FieldTurf

Ballarat Baseball, Prince of Wales Park, Ballarat, Victoria.

Turf One was awarded the contract by the City of Ballarat to design and construct a baseball diamond with synthetic turf infield and irrigated warm season grass outfield to replace the existing natural turf diamond.

The synthetic turf was installed over a porous base constructed from over 800 tonnes of graded aggregates to ensure that rainfall is rapidly and efficiently drained away from the surface.

The synthetic turf was manufactured by FieldTurf the global leader in synthetic sports surface production. Its advanced fibre structure is engineered to withstand the heavy demands of baseball and to deliver a durable, high performance surface.

Drought tolerant Santa Ana grass was planted in the outfield and an automatic irrigation system was installed.

Turf One helps re-build Kinglake.

Kinglake Memorial Reserve, Kinglake Central, Victoria.

Turf One was awarded the contract to supply and install synthetic sports surfaces at Kinglake Memorial Reserve, Victoria as part of the Victorian Bushfire Recovery Program.

Work included the surfacing of four synthetic tennis courts and installation of tennis nets, the surfacing of two acrylic netball courts, and the surfacing of three cricket practice nets, including netting.
