Cricket remains Australia’s national summer sport; often sharing playing venues with winter based Aussie Rules (AFL). Natural turf surfaces are still the standard, but times are changing. Cricket Australia (CA) and the AFL have jointly investigated synthetic and hybrid alternatives and licensed selected suppliers to develop an approved surface for non-elite competition.
